Join for a screening of Banaz: A Love Story by Deeyah Khan, followed by a discussion on the topic of ‘honour’ violence.

Panel Members:
Dr. Amin A. Muhammad – Professor in the Psychiarty department at the University of Toronto. He is a resource person for the Department of Justice for the issue on ‘Honour Crimes’.

Kripa Sekhar – Executive Director of the South Asian Women’s Centre. She is a champion for the inclusion of diverse, marginalized and isolated women’s voices.

Alia Hogben – Executive Director of the Canadian Council of Muslim Women. She is a Member of the Order of Canada “for her achievements as a social worker and champion of the rights of women, particularly Muslims, and for promoting dialogue between faiths.”
Schedule:
The doors will open at 6:30 pm and the event will begin at 7:00 pm with a short introduction to the documentary. After the screening there will be about 45 mins for a panel discussion and audience questions.
